    China's first zero-carbon energy consumption certificate was issued on Friday, according to one of the publishers, the Biomass Energy Industry Promotion Association.   The certificate was purchased by a hydrogen energy company based in Central China's Henan province. Zhang Dayong, secretary-general of the association, said such a trade signified a milestone in the marketization of green value for non-electrical renewable energy in China, particularly in the sector of non-electrical utilization of biomass.   The entire process, including certificate application, monitoring, verification, issuance and trade, was completed through the Zero Carbon Energy Certification platform that was established in December 2023.     SET-listed Asia Green Energy, a local bituminous trader and logistics service provider, is restructuring its business by focusing more on the green segment, following its new biomass acquisition, reported Bangkok Post.   It is also purchasing an extra 292.1 million shares in Asia Biomass Plc (ABM) for 380 million baht. This is according to deputy managing director of Asia Green Energy.   The transaction is enacted as a share swap and tender offer, and is scheuled to be finalised in the final quarter of 2024.   Asia Green Energy will give ABM shares in two of its companies: a 24% share in QTC Energy Plc and a 100% share in Green RDF Co.   The new share purchase will increase Asia Green Energy's ownership in ABM to between 51% and 100%, up from a 7.42% share at the moment.   The move is being made as ABM restructures i...

    CMA CGM Group and SUEZ sign an agreement to produce renewable fuel for the vessels of the CMA CGM Group. The agreement plans for the production of up to 100,000 tonnes of biomethane per year between now and 2030. Joint R&D initiatives will be conducted, and a joint investment program, funded by 100 million euros up to 2030, set up to develop biomethane production facilities.   CMA CGM Group, a global player in maritime, land, air and logistics solutions, and SUEZ, a world leader in circular waste management solutions, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 18 October.     Jakarta. A Japanese joint venture is helping West Java build a waste-to-energy plant as Indonesia tries to kill two birds with one stone: waste problem and carbon emissions.   The West Java government inked Friday a memorandum of understanding with Jabar Environmental Solutions (JES) in Bandung. The freshly signed deal is part of the partnership to build the waste-to-energy plant in Legok Nangka, West Java. JES is a joint venture set up by local company Energia Prima Nusantara and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation as well as Hitachi Zosen Corporation.    According to senior minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the construction of this “long-awaited plant” will finish within no more than 3 years.     The Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board is set to begin the process of selecting investors for a waste-to-energy project in the northern port city. The VND2,499-billion ($100.8 million) project will cover 10.56 hectares in the city’s Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone, according to a document released by the municipality. Featuring two incinerators, two emission processing facilities, and one turbine for electricity generation, the plant will have a daily processing capacity of 1,000 tons of domestic waste to generate 20 MW of power. The project will have a duration of 30 years from the date of signing the land lease. Hai Phong authorities want the project operational in December 2025. To stay the course, the world will now have to grow renewables capacity at a minimum 16.4% rate annually through 2030. The unprecedented 14% increase of renewables capacity during 2023 established a 10% compound annual growth rate (2017-2023).
